DO-98-018

MEMORANDUM

TO: Designated Agency Ethics Officials

FROM: Stephen D. Potts Director

SUBJECT: The Office of Government Ethics Biennial Report to Congress

Under current law, the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) is required to submit biennially a report to Congress summarizing the actions taken in the ethics program during the previous two years and providing any other appropriate information. The report covering OGE's activities from January 1, 1996 through December 31, 1997 has just been issued, and a copy is attached. If you wish to obtain additional copies of the report, copies may be downloaded from the OGE Form and Publications section of the Ethics Resource Library on the OGE Web site (http://www.usoge.gov/usoge006.html).

The attached report reflects the changes and developments in the executive branch ethics program over the past two years. I appreciate the cooperation and support of all agency ethics officials and staff in making the executive branch ethics program a success during this time period.
