Summary of the Ethics Provisions that Apply to Special Government Employees (SGEs)

March 29, 2021

OGE has created a new resource for ethics officials who have to counsel Special Government Employees (SGEs) or otherwise deal with the unique ethical issues posed by SGEs. This tool summarizes the ethics provisions that apply to two categories of SGEs in comparison to the provisions that apply to other executive branch employees (non-SGEs).

Watch a short video about SGE’s and view the resource here: https://extapps2.oge.gov/Training/OGETraining.nsf/%24%24OpenDominoDocument.xsp?documentId=D006291C1FEC02448525869C005BD4B8&action=openDocument

For a detailed introduction to the ethics laws and regulations as they apply to Special Government Employees, please consult OGE Informal Advisory Opinion 00x1.
