South Korea and OGE Benefit from Discussion of Similarities and Differences in their Ethics Programs

March 28, 2014

On March 26, 2014, OGE's Director, Walter M. Shaub, Jr. met with Chairman Sungbo Lee of Korea's Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC). Director Shaub and Chairman Lee had a wide-ranging discussion about the similarities and differences between the respective agencies' programs, laws, and regulations, including elements related to gift rules, financial conflicts of interest, and post-employment restrictions. As Director Shaub pointed out, "Meetings like these provide perspective on how OGE approaches its own ethics program. OGE benefits when we take a moment to consider how our overseas counterparts handle challenges similar to those that OGE faces. We learn by hearing about the things they do well."
