The U.S. Office of Government Ethics (OGE) is issuing this final rule in accordance with the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015. This rulemaking adopts as final prior interim regulations making ‘‘catchup’’ inflationary adjustments to each of the five civil monetary penalties provided in the Ethics in Government Act, as reflected in the executive branchwide financial disclosure and outside employment/activities regulations promulgated by OGE. This rulemaking also makes the 2017 annual adjustment to the Ethics in Government Act civil monetary penalties mandated by the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015.
